MEXICAN REDKNEED TARANTULA
SIZE
The Mexican Redknee has a legspan of 15cm.
WHAT THEY EAT
These spiders mainly eat insects, however being an opportunist they will grab and eat whatever they can including small lizards, frogs, other spiders and small rodents.
PREDATORS
There are a variety of animals such as birds and monkeys but the most amazing has to be the tarantula hawk wasp.
LOCATION
Found in Central and South America.

The tarantula's most feared predator has to be the tarantula hawk wasp.
This unbelievable insect will purposely fight with the spider and try and sting it, if stung the spider becomes permanently paralysed and becomes a host for the wasps eggs.
After the eggs hatch the wasp larvae slowly eats the tarantula alive, eating the non vital organs first to keep the meat fresh for four to six weeks allowing the larvae to mature into a wasp.
