Get involved and learn more about your zoo during Love Your Zoo week! Love Your Zoo week is a campaign run by BIAZA (the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquaria), which encourages the public to support their local zoo and celebrate the vital role that British zoos play in conservation, education and research. Amazonia is offering a host of fun activities and events this week. All customers this week will be entered into a free prize draw to win a Keeper for a Day experience, when you buy Tootsie's Trivia, to find out what it's like to work in a local zoo!
Activities include:
- Prize draw to win a Keeper for a Day experience when you buy our 50p quiz card, Tootsie's Trivia (every entrant gets LYZ sticker)
- Special talks on the importance of conservation and the high quality of care we give to our animals
- Voting for your favourite Amazonia animal on a Love Your Zoo heart
- Love Your Zoo colouring in

Snake Week
To celebrate 2013 as the Chinese Year of the Snake, we are hosting Snake Week here at Amazonia! Our slithery sergeant, Eric Aldrovandi is a 27 year old ex RAF Burmese Python currently in retirement at Amazonia. Meet him and listen to his story during one of our special snake sessions this week...
Activities include:
- Special snake sessions with keepers
- Making a snake skin bookmark to take home (with logo)
- Watching snake feeds on Sunday 7th July
5th -11th August:
Big Bug Bonanza
Join in the fun during the Big Bug Bonanza here at Amazonia! Learn all about invertebrates this week and why they are so incredibly important with some of the activities we have lined up, including creating homes for them. Munch a minibeast activity will be on offer too. Fancy a crunchy cricket? A mouthwatering mealworm? An appetising ant? Learn about edible insects...
Activities include:
- Poster making. Make a poster about your favourite Amazonia bug (you can also post, email or facebook your poster to us)
- Helping keepers build Amazonia bug hotels
- Making your own bitesize bug hotel to take home
- Munching a minibeast!
